Middle School

11 - 14

Habi teaches English to middle schoolers aged 11 to 14, based on the Key Stage 3 (KS3) program from the British Curriculum.

The program includes a range of language skills, such as reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Students study a variety of texts, including classic and contemporary literature, poems, plays, and newspaper articles. They also learn to write different types of texts, such as essays, narratives, and letters.

Our classes also focus on grammar and vocabulary, teaching students the basic rules of English grammar and expanding their vocabulary with new words and expressions.

In addition, students often have discussion and debate sessions in class as well as Powerpoint and Canva presentations to prepare (training in these tools),

which encourage them to express their opinions and develop their oral communication skills.

KS3, Year 7/8 (11-13 years old):

Students learn basic reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, as well as basic grammar and vocabulary. They also study a variety of texts such as short stories, poems, songs, and newspaper articles.

KS3, Year 9 (13-14 years old):

Students continue to develop their linguistic and literary skills by studying more complex works of fiction and non-fiction. They learn to write different types of texts, such as descriptions, narratives, and argumentative essays. Oral communication skills are also developed through debate and presentation activities.

Our program is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in language and literary skills, as well as an understanding of Anglo-Saxon culture and societies. The program is also designed to encourage students to develop their own creativity and critical thinking.

Habi teaches English comprehensively and rigorously to middle schoolers, providing them with the linguistic and literary skills necessary to succeed in their academic and professional lives. They are also encouraged to develop their creativity, resilience, self-confidence, and ability to communicate effectively in English.

Each week, a new theme is addressed, which may be drawn from the Anglo-Saxon history program or the school's calendar of celebrations, and a new presentation is introduced by a student.

The students leave each week with homework to do and a book to read, which they can choose from the 2,000 volumes that make up the Library, including teenage and young adult novels, comic books, manga, and non-fiction books.

Each term, the whole class returns home

with a common English novel to study and analyse.
